Challenge 2 follows Gymnastics Canada?s (CANGYM) National Skill Development and Evaluation Program. Our trained/certified coaches will teach Challenge 2 gymnasts a combination of the “Fundamental Movement Patterns” of Artistic Gymnastics – Landings, Locomotions, Stationary Positions, Rotations, Springs, and Swing, and basic apparatus specific skills.
At the end of each session, Challenge 2 gymnasts will be evaluated in accordance with their Badge level. In Challenge 2, there are four badges:
With these four badges, Challenge 2 gymnasts will learn Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG) apparatus specific skills – Vault, Bars, Beam, Floor, and Artistic Preparation.
Each Challenge 2 gymnast will receive a progress report for each badge. Certificate of Participation are given to gymnasts who did not complete a badge. Certificate of Completion are given to the gymnasts when they complete a badge. A Silver Routine Certificate is given to the gymnast when they complete their Silver badge.
Gymnasts who successfully complete Challenge 2 may either continue with Challenge 3 in the recreational stream or try out for GCGC’s Pre-Team, Compulsory or Optional teams.
